A Belt and The Belt
Asia
If you were like me, always trying to find the perfect belt and ended up collecting a bunch in the wardrobe but still hard to grab just “the one” for any kind of day.
So I am not sure if everyone had the same issue,
in finding a versatile belt for every life situation?
“A belt” is just any belt that serve the purpose of maybe being on the waistline, holding up the pair of loose jeans, status and dignifying the shirt you trying to uphold or uplift.
“The belt” is a signature belt that maybe branded, genuine leather, versatile, could be just the fit for any, I mean any fit (without too much headache)
I am usually one of those could use without. For the ladies, maybe this is a privileged than gents – to be fairly honest here.
With typical Asian features, it is unnecessary to use a belt to highlight my waistline. I did have one or two just to have, maybe a Max Mara, Zara, or a Tory Burch with special details in line with the time of its seasonal looks. These are “a belt”.

I had always try to search for the ideal “must have” belt. A must have item that is currently reappearing on the social media so many times that make you wonder is it worth it to get one at all? They had always been in my shopping cart. Like the ones with belt buckles of Ferragamo, Valentino, Celine, Gucci, Saint Laurent……(mentioned in the order of my favourite brands) or belt leather with logos printed. However, my first priority would always be “leather”. This is “the belt”. Oh, and I have recently catchup on latest fashion hype, I had seen the big brands had a come-back with “big buckles” with “ultra logos”. Is this your thing?
Now comes, with the width of the belt: do you go for thick that literally not ideal for Asian height. So my ideal is the thin ones which look better for Asian proportions. Next is the colour: the ones I mentioned that I own are mostly in “cerulean blue” or pure black. Yes, the cerulean blue is also making a combe-back from Andy with The Devil Wears Prada 2. Are you going to the movies on 1 May 2026?
So with the hype for brown in the last few seasons, I started to feel a love of brown which act comfortably with navy and brown. If I browsed my wish list on Neta-porter or MyTheresa, there is always the brands I mentioned above in the shopping cart. However, how many of you would make a real spending on a signature genuine leather belt? Or for what occasion? Do tell?
While revisiting my shopping cart weekly, this want still remained a vision to tackle. To my surprise or sudden awakening, I have lately made a very random purchase via Cos. I did make a few additions to collect winter items (on discount) and added this thin brown belt. When the packaged came, I have nicely placed in my wardrobe with the belt buckle still wrapped in the foam material to protect it.
One day I somehow decided to add it on a very loose hanging Uniqlo jean. It is so loose fitted that sometimes it does not hit the knees at the right place and it added some annoyance to the summer day. After a few hours of wear, I magically felt added confidence and this distinct vibrance to the outfit.
On this same day, I was eating fries at this fast-food chain and saw a male in suits with a big buckled Ferragamo belt – that felt very out of place and uncoordinated. The displacement was so distinct that I wonder if the belt is a genuine Ferragamo. By the time I arrive home at night, I checked over the smooth quality of this belt, it is genuinely leather made in Spain. This entire experience probably had a great impact on the next purchase and also making it easier to clean up my wardrobe going forward.
Here is “the belt”, a brown thin belt with a simple silvery buckle (doesn’t draw any attention – just mildly supporting you) in genuine leather made in Italy. It is from Cos. This is not a sponsored piece but it is my standards in appreciating my consumption, with friendly usability and a maybe mid-range extravagance for quality. Anyways, I was trying to link the relevant link but it was sold out and no longer available. (unsponsored)
So what entice you to buy the belt that you are wearing today?
